Frequently Asked Questions

The detail on how Brisbane Low Loaders works — areas, equipment, excavator transport, low loader hire, oversize permits, pilot vehicles, chain of responsibility, quoting and contact. Twenty-five answered questions about heavy machinery transport across South East Queensland.

01

What areas does Brisbane Low Loaders cover?

+

Brisbane and all of South East Queensland — the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Ipswich and western corridors, including the Port of Brisbane, Wacol, Acacia Ridge and Yatala hubs. SEQ is our only operating territory; we do not cover the Bowen Basin, Northern Queensland or interstate.

02

What equipment do you move?

+

Low-loader, machinery float and oversize or overmass movements for excavators, dozers, bulldozers, crawler cranes, wheel loaders, skid steers, boom lifts, telehandlers, transformers, generators, quarry crushers, pavers, compactors, road graders, water carts and tracked and wheeled plant — plus wide, long or tall cargo.

03

Do you transport excavators in Brisbane?

+

Yes. Excavator transport is a core service — from compact excavators on tilt-tray machinery floats to large crawler excavators on multi-axle low-loaders. We match the trailer to the machine size, access and route, and quote every move individually. Excavators with buckets, rippers or counterweights travel with attachments secured or detached as the load requires.

04

What is the difference between a low-loader and a machinery float?

+

A low-loader is a deck-height trailer built for tall, heavy and oversize plant — the load rides low for bridge and powerline clearance, and multi-axle setups spread load for overmass machinery. A machinery float (often tilt-tray) is self-loading, using hydraulic deck control to load and unload tracked and wheeled machinery where site access allows, without a separate crane.

05

Do you offer low loader hire in Brisbane?

+

Brisbane Low Loaders is a full-service transport operator, not a hire-only yard. We provide the trailer, the operator, the permits and the route plan as one engineered move — quoted to your load. If you need a self-drive hire, we are not the right fit; if you need the machine moved end to end, we are.

06

How do I get a quote?

+

Submit the request form on the Request a Quote page or email contact@brisbanelowloaders.com.au with your machine type, pickup, delivery, dimensions, mass and preferred window. Site photos and spec sheets help us engineer the move faster. A specialist reviews your request and returns a quote via email.

07

Why is every job quoted individually?

+

Brisbane Low Loaders is quote-only — every movement is quoted to your load and route. There is no published list, no dollar figures and no rate bands. The machine, the corridor, the permits and the timing all change the job, so a generic price cannot reflect it. A quote is a logistics plan, not a price tag.

08

Are permits and escorts arranged?

+

Yes. Oversize and overmass permits, pilot vehicles, escorts and route surveys are handled in-house across the SEQ corridor network, in line with Queensland requirements. You do not arrange them separately — they are part of the quote. Permit lodgement, pilot scaling and travel windows are all coordinated by us.

09

Is there a phone number?

+

No. All enquiries are by email at contact@brisbanelowloaders.com.au or via the contact form. We do not publish a phone or tracking number. This is deliberate — it keeps the enquiry intake structured and the quote response engineered to the load.

10

What information should I include in a request?

+

Equipment type, pickup and delivery locations, dimensions (length × width × height), operating weight, timing, and any site access constraints — gates, overheads, ground condition. Site photos or spec sheets can be attached to the form. The more detail you provide, the faster we can engineer the move and return a quote.

11

Do you handle oversize and overmass permits?

+

Yes. In Queensland, loads exceeding 2.5m wide, 4.3m high or 19m long become Class 1 restricted access vehicles and need an NHVR access permit. Permit management, pilot vehicles, escorts and route surveys for oversize and overmass loads are coordinated in-house as part of the quote — you do not arrange them separately.

12

Can you move machinery after hours or on weekends?

+

Dispatch coordination for time-critical and after-hours heavy machinery movements is available where the job demands it. Some SEQ corridors restrict oversize travel to certain hours or days; we plan the travel window into the route survey. Send the details and timing via the contact form or email.

13

Do you move machinery to the Port of Brisbane?

+

Yes. The Port of Brisbane is a preferred-partner hub for import and export heavy receivals, alongside Wacol, Yatala and Acacia Ridge for consolidation and distribution. Port discharge windows are planned per load, and escort requirements on the port corridor are coordinated with the port access schedule.

14

Do you do container transport or wharf cartage?

+

No. Brisbane Low Loaders is a low-loader, machinery float and plant equipment specialist. We do not carry containers, do wharf cartage, or handle general freight. That boundary keeps the discipline tight — we are not a general freight forwarder or a container carrier.

15

How are you different from other heavy haulage companies in Brisbane?

+

We are SEQ-local and corridor-specific, not a national operator. We are a low-loader and float specialist, not a general freight forwarder, container carrier or oversize-only permit desk. We are quote-only with no published rates, no phone number and no reviews — every move is engineered to the load and quoted individually.

16

Who is the Fable BNE LOWLOADERS agent?

+

Fable BNE LOWLOADERS is our enquiry intake assistant. It collects your job details — pickup, delivery, machine type, dimensions, mass, attachments, access notes, preferred window and contact — and forwards them to contact@brisbanelowloaders.com.au for a specialist to prepare your quote. It does not return a quote itself.

17

What is chain of responsibility?

+

Chain of responsibility means every party in a heavy transport movement — the operator, the driver, the consignor and the consignee — has a role in safety. Brisbane Low Loaders takes that seriously: loads are matched to trailers, restraints are verified before departure, and routes are surveyed before the convoy moves. We plan against failure modes before the truck rolls.

18

How do pilot vehicles work?

+

Pilot vehicles travel ahead of or behind an oversize load to warn other drivers and help manage the convoy. Escort requirements scale with the load: over 3.5m wide typically needs one pilot, over 4.5m two, and the widest and heaviest moves need a police escort as well. We size the pilot plan to the load — not a default one-pilot booking.

19

What makes a load oversize in Queensland?

+

In Queensland a load becomes restricted-access once it exceeds the statutory dimension thresholds — most commonly 2.5m wide, 4.3m high, or 19m long for a standard combination, with mass limits set by axle group. Past those thresholds the load is a Class 1 restricted access vehicle and cannot legally travel on a public road without an NHVR access permit.

20

Can you move wide loads through Brisbane tunnels?

+

Some Brisbane tunnels restrict oversize travel entirely or limit it to certain hours. The Gateway, Clem7 and Legacy Way tunnel heights are checked for tall loads as part of the route survey. If a tunnel cannot accommodate the load, we plan an alternate route — not discovered on the day, but surveyed before the permit is lodged.

21

Do you move plant to the Gold Coast or Sunshine Coast?

+

Yes. The Gold Coast industrial belt — Yatala, Coomera, Stapylton and Loganholme — and the Sunshine Coast — Caloundra, Maroochydore and Caboolture — are within our SEQ operating territory. The M1 Pacific Motorway south and the Bruce Highway north are the primary routes, surveyed per load for height, width and mass.

22

What if my site has limited access?

+

Tell us about it in the access notes — gate widths, overhead clearance, ground condition, turning paths and any slope. We survey the pickup and delivery access before dispatch and plan the trailer and loading method around it. If a low-loader cannot turn into the estate, we may use a machinery float or plan an alternate approach.

23

Do you provide site photos or route surveys?

+

Route surveys are part of the quote — we survey the SEQ route for height, width, mass and turning paths before the convoy moves. We do not provide site photos to clients; we ask you for site photos of the pickup and delivery as part of the request, so we can assess access before dispatch.

24

How far in advance should I book?

+

As early as you can — especially for oversize and overmass moves that need permits, pilots and route surveys. Permit lodgement can take time depending on the load and route. For straightforward plant moves within SEQ, shorter notice may work. Send the details and timing and we will confirm what is achievable.

25

What happens after I submit the form?

+

Your request is reviewed by a specialist, the trailer is matched to your load, the route is surveyed, permits are lodged if needed, and a quote is returned via email. No automated pricing — every quote is engineered to the load. You approve the quote, we coordinate the move, and the machine is delivered to site.
